About Haridwar
The town of Haridwar lies on the banks of river Ganges and foothills of mountain ranges of Himalayas. Haridwar literally means Door (dwar) to God (Hari). The scriptures mention of Haridwar being a portal from where the mortals down below enter towards Divine above. And in the reverse direction, heavenly Ganga lands on Earth near Haridwar and enters the plains to provide succour to humanity.
