Knitting is not as common an activity as it used to be earlier. Yet, there still are a few shops in Haridwar that sell knitting yarn round the year. The yarn is cashmillon or some similar synthetic one. Mountain-wool yarn is available by special arrangements.
Besides the knitting-needles and crochet, improvised devices are also used.
