Ganga Dussehra
12 June 2019
Ganga Dussehra is also known as Gangavataran. It is the day when Ganges descended from heaven to earth, just near Haridwar. This has influenced the culture of India. The first sound picture in India ‘Gangavataran’, was made on this theme, about a decade after the first sound (talkies) of Hollywood.
The mighty Ganges was invoked and petitioned to be brought to Earth for providing succour to the mankind and salvation to the deceased.
Lord Shiva is also known as ‘Adi Yogi’, the First Yogi. Only he could withstand the might of Ganges as it landed down from the heavens. The Adi Yogi received Ganges in his long hair.

First Yogi and nth Yogi & Yoginis
The present day Yogis & Yoginis can have their interpretations of Ganga Dussehra / Avataran. The Kriya Neti is a clear example by way of conjecture. This Kriya involves making water descend in to nostrils that are normally the gateways for air and Prana.
